Veggie Connections
Connecting to a Powerful Relationship with God

Each Sunday Morning at 9:00am

Kids get to travel to six fun-filled Veggie sites for eight-week sessions during the year to help build excitement, hold their interest and allow them to benefit a change of pace from the typical Sunday School setting.

At each Veggie site, the children will enter a fun lesson experience that helps them process their relationship with God through a Biblical message.

Catechism Class

A class in Catechism and Bible study prepares our children for Holy Communion and Confirmation.   This class is taught by Pastor Ed on Saturday mornings at 10:10am.  Students age ten years and/or in the fifth grade attend class for the two-year course.  The instruction topics are focused on the different parts of Lutheran doctrine and how it applies to our lives.
For those who have not completed Catechism class and are above the age of the class taught each Sunday, Pastor Ed has a special class held on Saturdays for instruction in the Lutheran faith.  Call the church office for further information.

Adults

Adults who wish to become a part of the The Village Family can do so by transfer from another Lutheran church, profession of faith or by personal instruction by Pastor Ed or Pastor Paul.

Lunch Box Bible Study

Nothing much to do on Tuesday mornings?  Come share lunch and the Word of God at our
Lunch Box Bible Studies with Pastor Paul. Sometimes lunch is made by members,
sometimes we bring our own. Come and share.

Wednesday Night Family Bible Fellowship

Truly a wonderful opportunity for fellowship and an enjoyable presentation for Bible Study.  Our Bible Fellowship starts with a pot-luck supper at 6:30pm and the presentation of the Word begins at 7:15pm.

Vacation Bible School

The Village Church is committed to doing God's will and serving the people of our community.

Join us during the summer schedule when school is out for a week of happy learning.  We are all on a spiritual adventure, a "pilgrimage", to know our Lord and the plans that He has for us.

Check out the photos on the FELLOWSHIP page!

Once again, we thank our congregation for its assistance.

"LIGHTS" is an acronym for Ladies in God -help, teach, serve.  Molly Pankow was the  author of the name.   Our projects have included, but not limited to, helping organizations in Lacombe such as The Lacombe-Mandeville Head Start, Bayou Lacombe Middle School and Chahta-lma Elementary, The Lacombe Nursing Home and last but not least our beloved Village Church - Lutheran.

The L.I.G.H.T.S.' only fund raiser for our projects are the semi-annual yard sales.  The yard sale for the spring is scheduled May 5th.  The monies made from this yard sale will be used for a project (not yet determined) in the new addition.  We will contact Thrivent to see if we can get part of the monies matched.  So every dollar made will really count.  We would like to extend an invitation to all ladies to join our group and help with our worthy projects in the upcoming year.

PRAYER CHAIN

Is there someone or something in your life that needs prayer?  The village Church - Lutheran has a prayer chain that would welcome the opportunity to offer prayers for you and your loved ones.  The members of our prayer chain believe that God, in His wisdom, will intercede on behalf of those we pray for and He will reveal His loving grace in their lives.

We pray for members and non-members alike.  If you would like to be specific, we will make our prayers specific but, if not, that is fine as well.

The two main ways of activating the prayer chain is to contact either of the following:

KATHY CAPACE, chairperson
985-882-4007 (home) or 504-251-1972 (cell)

or

VILLAGE LUTHERAN CHURCH OFFICE
(985) 882-5727

If you would like to be part of our prayer chain, please contact Kathy Capace above.

Prayer Chain requests should include the following:

Your request and the name and number (optional)
of someone to call if there is a need to clarify something.

LOCAL AND WORLD MISSIONS

Our L.I.G.H.T.S. group has had great success with our Bi-Annual Yard Sales.  Funds raised have assisted local schools, The Crises Pregnancy Center, the  Lacombe Nursing Home, New-Comer's Breakfast, and several church projects.

Collecting Cambell's soup labels does not take a lot of time but it brings tons of happiness to the residents of Bethesda Lutheran Home.  Thanks to the Campbell's Labels for Education program, we have been able to purchase educational materials  and a variety of other items that go directly towards helping all of the people that live at the BLH.  We feel honored to be part of this wonderful outreach.  You can help us in this project, too!  Gather an amount of labels and put them in the designated box in the church Family Center.  It's that easy and it goes such a long way in showing our love for Christ in support of the Bethesda Lutheran Home.

MITE boxes are an important part of our World Missions Project through LAMP.  The MITE boxes are small boxes into which you put change and say a little prayer as you put the change into the box.  Your nickels and dimes can help communities in Africa, Thailand, Japan, Sudan, Siberia, Alaska as well as the Navajo Nation.  To find out where you can get your MITE box, ask Marjorie Homrighausen or one of our L.I.G.H.T.S.  ladies.

Again, we would love it if you would join our group. Call the church office for more information.

Men's Club

The Village Church-Lutheran Men's Club was formed during a casual lunch attended by Pastor Paul Ernewein, Fred King, and Ray Schmidt in mid-November 2007.   In an effort to support our church and its functions, guidelines were set and Ray Schmidt  was named the club’s first president.  Fred King was named the Chief Administrator.

During the announcements one Sunday morning shortly after the club was formed, Pastor Paul told everyone that a men's club now existed and that the first meeting would be held on a Monday in early December. The agenda would consist of listening to God's Word, having fun with a variety of activities, looking at football games, playing darts using a professional dart board (Rule: Off the board, pay $.25; hit the wall, pay $1.00), etc. One of the members in the back of the church (never identified, of course) mumbled something about that the ladies could attend the meeting.....if they wanted to cook and that resulted in a lot of laughing and good-natured ribbing.  We were off to a fine start.

At the first meeting in December, goals and functions were discussed, culminating with the club setting a goal to completely refurbish our kitchen to coincide with the completion of our church’s new addition.

Progress on our new addition and our new kitchen area.

The first event planned was a unique “Men’s Bake Sale ” to be held after our Service on Sunday, January 13, 2008.  A total of 47 cakes were made by the members of the Men’s Club, culminating in a total sell out of said cakes.  The show of Stewardship, fellowship, and Men’s Club pride, made our members proud.  Bob Gourdon was the event chairman.

Our second event was aOld Time Fish Fry”.  This was held on Friday, February 22, 2008 from 5pm till 7pm.  Pastor Paul Ernewein, Arthur Rey, and John Harrison were the event coordinators for this function.  We had enough fish, french fries, cold slaw, hush puppies and french bread for 225 plates and we we completely sold out!  We thank our church members for coming as well as all of the other wonderful people from churches in other parts of the parish who came and supported us.
