L.W.M.L.

The Lutheran Women’s Missionary League (LWML) is the official women’s auxiliary of The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod. For over 65 years, the LWML has focused on affirming each woman’s relationship with Christ, encouraging and equipping women to live out their Christian lives in active mission ministries and to support global missions.

THE  LEAGUE PLEDGE

In fervent gratitude for the Savior's dying love and His blood-bought gift of redemption we dedicate ourselves to Him with all that we are and have; and in obedience to His call for workers in the harvest fields, we pledge Him our willing service wherever and whenever He has need of us. We consecrate to our Savior our hands to work for Him, our feet to go on His errands, our voice to sing His praises, our lips to proclaim His redeeming love, our silver and our gold to extend His Kingdom, our will to do His will, and every power of our life to the great task of bringing the lost and the erring into eternal fellowship with Him. Amen.

The LWML Society of the Village Church is part of the Southern Zone of the Louisiana/Mississippi District.

Membership is available to all women in who are members of the Village Church. The LWML seeks to develop and maintain a greater mission consciousness among women of the LCMS through education, inspiration, and service.

A major emphasis is the support of mission and ministry throughout the world by means of mite box offerings. These mite box offerings have funded tens of millions of dollars in mission grants since the organization's inception in 1942. The parable of the widow’s mite, found in the gospel of Mark, was the inspiration for the mite box. Half of the money collected within the Village Church Society is kept for local missions. Two of the missions supported by the Village Church Society is Safe Harbor in Slidell and The Crisis Pregnancy Center, also located in Slidell.

SAFE HARBOR

Safe Harbor is a residential and non-residential service for women and children affected by domestic violence. The center offers individual, group and children's counseling. They also give clothing, transportation and medical assistance.

CRISIS PREGNANCY CENTER

Their goal is to listen, learn about the needs of pregnant women and to meet those real needs with real solutions.

Their counselors recognize that no answer is "easy" and no one solution is right for everyone. They help each person explore their situation and give counsel that can help the individual make a well-informed decision. They seek to empower young women with goal-setting skills and child development information.

The support of The Village Church LWML and other local organizations enables the center to offer essential social services to clients at no cost to the client, the center, or to the government.
